A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Emilia! I was born and raised in Ukraine and later migrated to Canada, where I have lived for the last 10 years. As a queer and autistic artist, I create art that reflects the depth and diversity of human experiences, sparking connections and conversations. I have a passion for storytelling, which I am currently working to bring into the world.

I hope my art can one day offer a respite and comfort to those who seek it.

My autobio-graphic novel "Be Yourself! Oh, not like that" recently made a debut on Sep 14, 2024 at the "Comics Jam' at The Dragon comic store in Guelph, Ontario (Thank you Jennifer Haines for having me there!) This book is an exploration of my journey from childhood to the present day, navigating the world through the lens of autism. From the challenges of an adult diagnosis to the struggle of fitting into society’s molds, always being told to be more genuine and to “be myself”, but being told the way I did it was never right.

Another project in the works is "Oriana: The Forgotten Deities". In a world abandoned by the Gods ages ago, their absence robbed humanity of their powers, resulting in devastation and natural calamities, leaving only myths behind. Enter Karolina, a young girl who stumbles upon an ancient secret. Will she be the one to restore the delicate balance between the human realm and the realm of magic, just as it existed thousands of years ago? Embarking on a journey of discovery, Karolina finds herself confronted with unforeseen: not all is as it seems.

I am also scripting and outlining my next graphic novel, "Second Half," which follows Theo, a promising soccer prodigy whose world shatters after a career-ending injury. As she undergoes surgeries and rehabilitation, she struggles with pain, addiction, isolation, and a crumbling identity, trying to find joy beyond the spotlight. This graphic novel explores themes of resilience, mental health, and the transformative power of letting go, resonating with anyone who has faced loss, trauma and had to rebuild themselves.
