A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

IMG_6737_edited.png

Hi, my name is Emilia! I am an award-nominated queer disabled Ukrainian comic artist and writer based in Canada, creating stories in autobiography, fantasy, and horror that explore neurodiversity, mental health, and resilience. My self-published autobiographical graphic novel, Be Yourself! Oh, not like that, debuted in 2024, offers a deeply personal look at growing up undiagnosed autistic and navigating self-acceptance. From the challenges of an adult diagnosis to the struggle of fitting into society’s molds, always being told to be more genuine and to “be myself”, but being told the way I did it was never right.

In 2025, it has been nominated for a Doug Wright Award for best small – or micro-press – book, and in 2026 it has been nominated for Zelda Awards - Best Graphic Novel Non-Fiction, as well as I've been nominated for Emerging Trailblazer (for under 10 years in the business).

I am also the creator of Oriana: The Forgotten Deities, a fantasy comic and modern Slavic mythology retelling, to be released in June 2026.

As a queer and autistic artist, I create art that reflects the depth and diversity of human experiences, sparking connections and conversations. I have a passion for storytelling, andI hope my art can one day offer a respite and comfort to those who seek it.

I often speak on panels on difficult topics in comics, mental health, disabilities and getting started in comics, as well as building fantastical worlds.
